MUBUTV is here...

This past Wednesday August 15th was the launch of a new online network called MUBUTV that I am the Co-founder on. The MUBUTV Insider Video Series, features interviews with some of today’s leading music industry professionals in the areas of A&R, music supervision, legal affairs, marketing & branding, publicity and record production among others.  We worked very hard on the creation and development of this first show and I am very proud with how it came out. 

I've attached the official press release below for you to check out. And I also went ahead and included the MUBUTV promo clip for the show as well as the first episode with veteran music supervisor John Houlihan. Music Industry Insider Video Series MUBUTV set to launch August 15th

HOLLYWOOD, CA  (August 15, 2012) – Global music industry partners the Music Business Registry and Symbiotic Nation have joined forces to present the MUBUTV Insider Video Series, featuring interviews with some of today’s leading music industry professionals in the areas of A&R, music supervision, legal affairs, marketing & branding, publicity and record production among others. The series is set to debut on MUBUTV’s official website (MUBUTV.COM) as well as their YouTube channel on Wednesday August 15th.

MUBUTV™ is the brainchild of Ritch Esra of the Music Business Registry, the premier source of music industry contacts, singer songwriter and entrepreneur Eric Knight of Symbiotic Nation a new entertainment startup, and songwriter, session player Doug Probst. “For a long time, Ritch and I had discussed working on a project together that would embody our passion for educating artists as well as professionals on the future of our industry.” says Knight. Esra and Probst concur, “Over the last decade, we’ve experienced a radical sea change in this business which is why we feel that the time for this is now.  It’s absolutely crucial that artists and industry professionals educate themselves.”

Some of the featured guests in the first season of the Insider Video Series, include top music supervisor John Houlihan (Austin Powers, Charlie’s Angels, Training Day), A&R executive and artist consultant Don Grierson (Celine Dion, Cheap Trick, Heart), leading publicist Versa Manos (Sex Pistols, Whitney Houston, The Police), networking guru and author Dan Kimpel (Networking in the Music Business, It All Begins With the Music) and Kyle Bylin music sociologist and content manager at Live Nation.

Another component of MUBUTV is their “Featured Artist Series” which will showcase and spotlight videos from new and up-and-coming artists in every genre from around the world.

“We want MUBUTV to be the trusted source to help break the next generation of artists”, says Esra.

Persistent Management Industry Showcase Scrapbook

I just wanted to pop in and drop this little scrapbook off from last weeks Persistent Management | Symbiotic Nation industry showcase. I'm still on a high from this amazing event. This was truly one of the best performances ever by all the bands (Satellite Sky, Ignacio Val) and one of my personal best. Can't wait to get back some of the videos for this show, they should be amazing.

Eric Knight | PM Industry Showcase at King King 3.28.2012

HOLY CRAP! What an amazing time we had last Wednesday night at the Persistent Management | Symbiotic Nation Music Industry Showcase at King King in Hollywood. I can safely say this was one of my best performances and overall the bands best performance ever! There was just an AMAZING energy and electricity flowing through the air that evening and it definitely showed.

There were two other incredible acts on the bill that evening. Indie rockers Satellite Sky from Australia and Latin Pop-Rock star Ignacio Val. Satellite Sky is one of my favorite new bands to come on to the scene. They just released an EP late last year that I cannot stop playing. Infectious tunes and just great sound. They have something extremely special going on and I'm very excited to be working with them. I can't wait to see what's around the corner for them.

Ignacio Val's set was simply great! He has all the makings of a major superstar and this evening's performance was no exception. Every song in his set is a potential radio single and just the energy and charisma that he exudes is just unstoppable. I'm very proud of how far he has come.

I also wanted to thank the crew that we had that evening. Nick Gallagher, Tomas Wolfe, Moshe Yosef. You guys were FRICKEN AMAZING and I am so grateful for your acts of kindness and help it was truly beautiful to watch.

Also to our production crew documenting the evening: Gerson Segura, Mario Amadeau & Daniel Hodge what beautiful images you captured. I'm truly blown away and can't wait to show the material to everyone.

To our AMAZING host Erin Darling who was very gracious to lend us her talents, Erin thank you!

And to my asst and right hand girl Brooke Griffin. Without you it simply would not have got done. Your time and energy towards this show was simply breathtaking and I have a deep debt of gratitude for everything that you have done. :)

And to our special guest musicians that evening: Rochella Brown & Ken Hikaro thank you so much for lending us your talents on "Happy Together" it was amazing. And to my sweety Rochella it was awesome to finally share the stage with you even if it was for only one song. :)

And of course my band: To Greg, Forrest & Daniele. What can I say. I am blessed, honored and privileged that you would even consider performing with me. You certainly make me look great and I am eternally grateful and love you guys tremendously!

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Hopkinson spent many years crossing the Pacific Ocean between Australia and America, suitcase in hand, writing and performing his music, before eventually relocating to Los Angeles in 2006. "I came to America not really knowing who I was, but in time I began to find all the missing pieces, says Hopkinson. “Strangers To Ourselves is a story of self discovery that hopefully many people will relate to." Hopkinson's influences are worlds apart. Classically trained from the age of nine, he started a grunge/rock band in high school, eventually finding his voice in the modern pop and rock sound, with much loved bands like U2, Pearl Jam, Live, Travis, Cold Play, Portishead, Train, and Crowded House. His album, Strangers To Ourselves, was co-written and produced with George Merrill, best known for writing Whitney Houston’s hit songs I Wanna Dance With Somebody and How Will I know.

Bolivian export Ignacio Val made his initial mark upon the public’s consciousness when he joined legendary Franco De Vita on tour throughout South America to duet on one of Franco's greatest hits, “Si La Ves.” Since then, Val has played throughout Southern California in key venues including The Whisky a Go Go, The Temple Bar, The Gig, The Rumba Room, B.B King’s, The Joint and The Good Hurt, among others. 2010 has already been an incredible year for the rising star, who has made multiple TV appearances on Univision’s Primera Edicion and Tu Estilo. Performing also with international superstars such as David Bisbal and Alejandra Guzman. Ignacio’s supercharged shows, songs and charisma combine to cultivate a Latin superstar-in-the-making.

Hollywood Music and Media award winner Steve Cooke is currently running the Hollywood circuit, bringing down the house at legendary venues. At the beginning of his career Steve moved to London where he formed the band Endever, supported by an all-star band “The Dolphins,” which included members of Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Brand X and later guitar legend Alvin Lee of Ten Years After. He’s also played principle characters in UK hit musicals such as Broadway’s, Hair, Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Who’s Tommy. Over the last few years Steve has focused on his own music and songwriting. In 08 Steve rocked Carlos Santana’s after-party in Germany!

SNTV Debut Live On Sunset....

Well, well, well ello maties it's me again. For the past several weeks now I have been going crazy from one event to another. It's been absolutely insane for me but in a good way. Nevertheless I'm extremely exhausted.

One of those crazy events or projects that I am involved in is a new entertainment network called SNTV or Symbiotic Nation Television. I'm co-hosting a new show that interviews various people from all around the various creative industries. Whether it be up incoming or already established people in the industry, SNTV's plan is to shed new light on the various creative talents that entertain millions of people everyday.  Their plans are to feature talent from the music industry, film & TV industry, comic book, gaming, pop culture you name it SNTV will be featuring it.

One of SNTV's other main objectives with the show is to hear and give advice to other talent that may be watching to inspire them to fully realize that their dreams are attainable.  We just finished shooting the first of several interviews for the debut webisodes on the Sunset Strip over at Live On Sunset in West Hollywood.

If the name sounds familiar LOS was originally the old location for the world famous Sunset Tower Records. A lot of great history and bands performed at that record store. We had a fabulous time while we were shooting. My partner in crime from down under Mr. Ian Hopkinson was co-host for the festivities.

We had some great guests for our debut show.  Singer songwriters Rochella Brown, Neha Kent, Elyse Haren (Elyse & The Aftermath) & Actor Kevin Bowers (True Blood, 24) rounded out the show. I'm really excited about this project and what it means. Stay tuned for more details for the premiere episodes out later this year. Until next time.
